Specifications:
This Tutor is intended to be used as an aid to the drum student who is taking lessons from an experienced Gaelic-style (pipe band) drummer. Throughout the Tutor, explanations are provided to help you gain an understanding of the proper execution of the movement or exercise being discussed. However, you may find additional explanation, demonstration and critique from a qualified instructor will help to assure that you are heading in the right direction. A teacher will be able to monitor your grip, dynamics, expression and technique, whereas this Tutor (as any book) can merely provide guidance on what notes should be played, and an explanation of how they should be played.
Additionally, this can be an excellent resource for the drum corps of the band. The Tutor has twenty-nine exercises, fourteen parade beatings (generic beatings), massed band scores, a variety of tunes, and one drum salute. Playing the examples and exercises in this book as a corps will help to improve the unison playing within the group.
