Hiring a piper - NOT for weddings

     We often receive phone calls looking for a piper on short notice. This most frequently is for funerals, although corporate events sometimes are requested. We will be glad to assist wherever possible in arranging for a piper. For funerals, it is important to contact us to arrange for a piper as soon as the funeral date is known. Many of us work during the day, and it is often difficult to find pipers available for a daytime funeral. It is much easier to refer someone with a few days notice rather than trying to find someone for tomorrow morning!

     When a piper is arranged, please make arrangements with the piper as quickly as possible. Although it is natural that there may be changes, please stay in communication with the piper. I had been asked to play for a funeral once by the family and was kept hanging until the night before the funeral, when someone finally got back to me and notified me that they has decided not to have pipes at the funeral. Although this is OK, I had turned down a request for another funeral while the family was thinking it over. I know it's a difficult time, but being all on the same page is very important.
